Myth #1:  You need to change your car’s oil every 3,000 miles. This one is actually both True AND False! It depends on the age, make, and model of your vehicle. It can also very much depend on the kind of oil you are using. In theory, most modern vehicles (10 years or younger) tend to go as far as 10,000 miles before needing an oil change.

Myth #2: The more dirt on your vehicle, the more performance you will get out of it. Scientifically, this is a resounding FALSE belief! Some say that the dirt reduces a car’s drag, however, the only thing that’s being reduced here is your car’s fuel economy. As much as 10%.

Myth #3: Electric-powered vehicles are more likely to be fire hazards than gas-powered ones. Believe it or not, electric-powered cars have been around for more than 100 years! It has only been within the last 15-20 years that the electric car has start to come into its own. Now, as far as addressing the belief that electric cars are more prone to fires. Currently, there is no tangible proof of this belief. In addition, car fires in general are rare. So, this myth is FALSE.

Myth #5: Using a cell phone while you are pumping gas can be dangerous. There are a few things you should not do while filling up. These are smoking and leaving your engine running in idle. However, using a cell phone while at the pump has NOT been proven to be a hazard. Therefore, don’t panic if your phone rings while at the filling station. You’re safe. Myth is FALSE.
